Today's Parent has released its annual list of the top 100 baby names in the country, compiled from a trawl through lists compiled by individual provinces and territories.
Canadians are continuing to turn to generations past for inspiration, with such vintage favourites as Olivia (#2) and Sophia (#3) for girls and Oliver (#6) for boys.
Biblical names remain popular, with Jacob (#2), Noah (#8), and Gabriel (#11) and Leah (#8), Sara(h) (#9) and Naomi (#18).
Also big were names deriving from the British Isles, especially for boys, with Liam topping the list, and Aidan/Aiden (#18) for boys; Isla for girls crept up the list this year from #75 in 2012 to#57 this year.
