Derived from the Greek angelikos meaning "angelic, worth of an angel". Angelica was the heroine of the Boiardo's "Orlando innamorato" and of the Ariosto's "Orlando Furioso": a lovely princess which makes all the soldiers, both Christian and Saracen to fall into love for her, dissuading them from the battle.
